Born To Be Burned (Single)
Released: Jan 1995
The Great Society were more than just Grace Slick's band before she joined Jefferson Airplane. As these 1965 demos clearly demonstrate, this was a moody garage band boldly experimenting with world music, feedback and a reverb-soaked melancholy that become a stylistic touchstone for the Haight-Ashbury scene. What the Yardbirds only hinted at on "Heart Full of Soul" and "Still I'm Sad," the Great Society turned into a full-blown "Daydream Nightmare Love," to borrow a phrase from the band itself.
