First off: The Penguins' best known song, "Earth Angel," is on this compilation but it's probably not the version you're familiar with. The album skips over their early sides for the Dootone label, focusing instead on the smooth work they did at Mercury in the late 1950s. You'll find great uptempo doo-wop pop in "Ookey Ook" and "Hey Senorita."
