Biography

Originally, Ska stars like Desmond Dekker and Laurel Aitken combined the Motown sound with Jamaican bluebeat rhythms and horns, more horns, and additional horns. Perhaps as an homage to these pioneers, the Pietasters have followed suit, mixing '60s R&B and Punk into their distinctive Ska sound that not only possesses the peppy, knee-jerk, circus-inspired rhythms of most 3rd Wave Ska, but which also leans towards the roots of the genre. The Pietasters allow one to either kick up their heels, or relax and sway to the more mellow tunes they have to offer -- after all, skankin' too quickly is tiring, not to mention the fact that you end up looking like an idiot running in place after awhile.
