Nashville isn't known as a hotbed for peppy, fuchsia-hued pop-rock, but that might change now that the Pink Spiders have crept out of their lair. Their look and their sound are both slaves to their band name: loud, saucy and neon lit. Teenage Graffitti is the Pink Spiders' official debut, an album of brash, bratty, pop-punk hooks, raw rock 'n' roll posturing and surprisingly clever lyrics. Cheap Trick and the Cars influence in equal measure, but this music is aimed less at those reliving their skinny tie glory days and more at this year's rookie mall rat all-stars.
