The Pipettes have gone disco. You know what you get when you combine a British neo-girl group with disco? ABBA. The four-on-the-floor, swirling synths and cooing vocals might be a bit disorienting at first for fans of the group's previous (wall of) sound. But a completely new direction also makes a good deal of sense because the group has been completely overhauled, leaving nary an original Pipette. Unfortunately, while this new direction isn't totally alien (it's a short jump from the Angels to Anni-Frid), this album just doesn't have the same pop and pizzazz.
