First Class, and Forever
The Poison Arrows
Released:
May 2009
Label:
File Thirteen Records
There's a lot going on in this record. There are samples, synths, buzzing distortion, jazz drumming, heavy bass lines and dissonant guitars. Not to mention layered vocals, Lou Reed-like speak-singing and whispers, all which create infectious melodies and anthemic choruses. Too much to compute? Not for the Poison Arrows, who deal out these sprawling sounds with precision -- just check out highlights "Fire Up the Happiness Center," "Twenty Percent Brighter" and "To Meet Eyes."
