The Reatards

Strap yourself in for a wild, wild ride. Jay Reatard drags you down with his super-raw, southern-style slop 'n' roll. Vocals peel paint, while guitars are blowtorches that burn each note and set your ears on fire, beautifully capturing the very soul of Punk more than any music in a snowboarding video. This Memphis, Tenn. trio have taken note of the sound that originally defined rock 'n' roll: bare-bones blues and unbridled Rockabilly mayhem. You won't hear much of either here, but combine the two in their most stripped-down forms and you have the maniacal essence of the Reatards' sound. No matter how many ways you can think to say the word "raw," none are good enough to describe the unadulterated energy of the Reatards.
