The Sight Below (Seattle's Rafael Anton Irisarri) couldn't have come up with a better title for his debut album. Running EBowed guitars through reverb and delay, his slowly evolving drones move like hawks circling high overhead. Call it incidental music with purpose: quiet, elegiac, almost impossibly melancholy, with a resigned grace familiar from peers like Stars of The Lid and Loscil; stunted drum machines suggest the subliminal techno of Wolfgang Voigt's GAS project. The 2011 Digital Bonus Version includes early EP tracks and an unreleased Eluvium remix.
