Practically unheard of in the U.S.A., the Style Council's second album was a huge, No. 1 hit in Britain. Those who can bear the thought of a socialist lounge-revival protest album will find much to savor on this remastered double CD, including such key Paul Weller B-sides as "The Piccadilly Trail," "Spin Driftin'" and "Ghosts of Dachau." While many tracks deal with politics and romance, "A Man of Great Promise" is about Weller's old friend dying. The unstoppable single "Shout to the Top" still sounds like the best thing ever played in your mother's jazzercize class.
