Go Music (digital)
by The Team
Released: Jan 2007
The Team are one of the most overlooked artists of the hyphy explosion. Go Music is a great collection of freestyles and b-sides originally released in 2005. "Where I Lay" recounts the Bay's transition from "Panther Party â Huey and Bobby Seale" to when we "pop pills/ kill them over little skrill" over a churning goth beat. "Grow Up" is similarly brutal and slyly smart, and elsewhere they rip it over Jeezy's "Go Crazy" beat and team up with Hammer, Keak Da Sneak and Too $hort on "It's Getting Hot (Remix)." The mixtape format makes everything seem a little scattered, but there are some jewels here.
