Part of CMJ 2006 found us sitting down in the cold New York winter air and catching up with the Tyde's frontman, Darren Rademaker, who seemed just as mellow on the East Coast as he is on the West. We talked about his early years as a recording artist on Geffen and Creation Records as well as the blooming branches of the Beachwood Sparks' family tree (of which he's part of the trunk). Rademaker also enthused about surfing and how his quest for riding the perfect wave has naturally pulled his music into the artful current of surf culture over the years.
