Glad All Over
The Wallflowers
Released:
Oct 2012
Label:
Columbia
Ever since their debut album (released way back in 1992), Jakob Dylan's Wallflowers have been torn between slick adult-alternative pop and grainy retro-classic rock (think Springsteen burning one with Chris and Rich Robinson). Glad All Over, the group's first full-length in seven years, tilts towards the latter. "Hospital for Sinners" is a striking opener, one featuring an organ chug-a-lug that recalls his pop's "Tombstone Blues" and "Political World." Another quality highlight is "The Devil's Waltz"; its smoky groove would sound right at home on Dr. John's comeback set Locked Down.
