Biography
Possibly named after The Band's 1967 hit, the Weight is an Americana band
still burning the alt country torch. Singer Joseph Plunket's is the baritone-
voiced visionary who invites a revolving door of musicians to record and
tour with his band. Leaning more toward a My Morning Jacket style of country
rock than straightforward honky-tonk derivation, this Atlanta, GA project
specializes in dark and looming twang that would fit snugly nestled inside
Neil Young's "doom trilogy", with a haggard but romantic desperation last
heard on Young's Tonight's The Night. On their debut album, Amy Dykes from Athens' I Am the World Trade Center, cameos on some of the most amazing high lonesome harmonies since Emmylou Harris' Duets collection.
