The second half of Thrice's four-part concept album about the four elements (fire, water, air and earth) is concerned with air and earth. As with the first two volumes of this ambitious project, the music is meant to invoke various aspects of said elements. Pushing their emo roots deeper into a sort of modern day post-hardcore prog rock realm to which no OC scrubs have gone before, Thrice continue to follow their own muse, cool kids be damned. "Daedelus" is trippy, "Digging My Own Grave" is show tune-y and "The Earth Isn't Humming" is groovy. These guys are up to something.
