About Tiny Vipers

Tiny Vipers is the brainchild of Seattle-based singer-songwriter Jesy Fortino. Constructing somewhat bleak songs out of sparse guitar picking and the occasional atmospheric backing track, Forino echoes archaic Americana as much as he does modern indie folk, applying a range of vocal styles to the proceedings, which be described as a cross between Mazzy Star and Will Oldham. There is, however, no shame in being lumped in with such indie rock luminaries. Her 2007 Sub Pop debut, Hands Across the Void, bristles with a refreshing confidence and originality, despite the clear connection the music shares with her aforementioned influences.
