This Cuban singer became popular singing with Orquesta Riverside and Enrique Jorrin in the 1940s and '50s, later contributing to the classic Estrellas de Areito recording. Quintessentially Cuban, Gomez possessed the pipes of an opera singer. He specialized in romantic songs.
