Techno is typically for dancing, but it can also be for spacing out. (Not for nothing has outer space always been techno's final frontier.) As TM404, Andreas Tilliander strips classic techno down to its barest essence, tracing ghostly lines with acid bass and a smudged hint of drum machine. Made with just three iconic Roland machines (TB-303, TR-606 and MC-202), the album is economical in the extreme, marked by slow, deliberate tempos and passages that shift as imperceptibly as daylight. Hypnotic doesn't begin to describe it; listen loud, late and alone.
