The Solo Years: 1970-1981
Tommy James
Released:
Aug 2005
Label:
Rhino
In 1970 Tommy James ditched the Shondells. And while he didn't match past successes, the perennial hit maker did churn out gobs of awesome ear candy. The first half of this retrospective concentrates on James' early stabs at Christian psychedelia and gospel bubblegum, including "I Believe in People" and the monster hit "Draggin' the Line." The rest serves as on overview of the late '70s, when James dabbled in slick soft rock and funky adult contemporary, such as "Three Times in Love."
