Just six months after his excellent LP Underneath the Pine, Toro Y Moi's Chaz Bundick returns with a five-track EP of stripped-down funk. In contrast to the album's lush, woozy vibes, the EP sticks to skeletal synth-and-drum-machine workouts more in keeping with the retro-boogie of electro revivalists like Dam-Funk or Chromeo. "I Can Get Love" experiments with whooshing, hyper-compressed house, and the Alexander O'Neal & Cherrelle cover "Saturday Love" gets a gleaming, new-new-jack makeover.
