It only seemed like a matter of time before Travis "Travie" McCoy would forge a solo venture. With the release of Gym Class Heroes' breakout album, As Cruel as School Children, the New York rapper and pop-punk vocalist became a celebrity and, thanks to his whirlwind romance (and subsequent breakup) with pop tart Katy Perry, a tabloid item as well. He made guest appearances with pop singers Pink and Kelly Rowland as well as hipster rap duo Kidz in the Hall and Gym Class mentors Fall Out Boy. For his debut album, 2010's Lazarus, Travie recruited Cee-Lo, T-Pain and Young Cash. It opened high on the album charts and showed potential to do greater damage, thanks to the summery hit "Billionaire."
