Country Club by Travis Tritt
Released: Mar 1990
Label: Rhino/Warner Bros.
Travis Tritt may have Joe Diffie-level bad hair (one word: mullet), but there's no denying the redneck pride of "Help Me Hold On," the first of over 40 times that Tritt put a song in the upper echelons of the charts over the course of his career. The late '80s/early '90s will forever be associated with a glut of "hat acts," but Tritt put his own spin on this era of cheeseburger new country with the Honky Tonk Heroes shuffle of his ode to outlaw country, "Put Some Drive In Your Country," along with Skynyrd guitars and the fact that Tritt did not actually wear a cowboy hat.
