Bar 17
Trey Anastasio
Released:
Oct 2006
Label:
Rubber Jungle Records
Hopefully, phans haven't entirely given up on Trey Anastasio after a run of uninspired tours and albums, because Bar 17 feels like the Red Headed Bastard's benchmark of maturity. That M-word might be anathema to kids who just want Trey's shredded cheese, but for diehard fans it translates to greater variety, greater payoff and greater songs. Heads: Think the prog-Broadway grandeur of "Gayute," but with horns and a (mostly) straight face. Newcomers: This stuff isn't as weird as you think.
