Hit And Run
Released: Jan 1987
Perhaps figuring if The Cult could do it, they could too, ex-punks True Sounds of Liberty sold out to big-haired sleaze-metal on this Capitol-distributed 1987 album, while also (notably in saxed-up "Good Mornin' Blues") howling back at an earlier, seedy L.A. of The Doors. "Dreamer" has a slight Johnny Cash twang, and "Where Did I Go Wrong" is a coed ballad. But mostly we get meaty if cynical Angus Young riffs, to catchiest effect in the shout-along title cut and "Sixteen." Even the fairly sappy closer "You Can Try," about how it's hard to help people who won't help themselves, is tolerable.
