West Coast Vaccine (The Cure)

West Coast Vaccine (The Cure) by Turf Talk
Released: Jun 2007
Label: Sick Wid It
With his rubbery, near-spastic flow and love of giant yet goofy samples, Turf Talk has always resembled his cousin, legendary Bay Area rapper E-40. With this album, his third major release in two years, Turf steps out from behind 40 Water's shadows, despite the latter's appearance on five tracks. The screeching synth anthems, such as Droop D's "Doe Boy" and Rick Rock's "Bring the Base Back," sound like the sort of hyphy the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk would ride to, while the ringing, crunchy funk of "I'm Ghetto" and "Minnie Minnie" play into hyphy's darker side.
