The Two Gallants' debut LP burns slower than a river-boomed log. Its booze-ragged two man tales of love gone sour, love gone violent and love just plain gone took the better part of two years to seep into the critical consciousness. Comparison to the White Stripes is unavoidable, but Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Shane McGowan also hold sway over their authentic sound.
