Biography

Raw, rowdy and resolutely lo-fi, the boyish Ty Segall cranks out a party-hard mix of greaser rock and power pop, with touches of twee and shoegaze-approved psychedelia added for good measure. Segall joins an impressively long line of Bay Area garage rock miscreants, from old-school pioneers The Mystery Trend and Chocolate Watch Band to modern freaks like John Dwyer (The Coachwhips, Thee Oh Sees). Dropping a slew of limited-edition singles, cassettes and vinyl in 2008, Segall quickly made a name for himself in the thriving garage rock revival scene. After signing with Memphis' Goner Records, arguably modern garage rock's preeminent imprint, Segall dropped the Lemons full-length. He quickly followed it up with another slew of small-run releases, as well as his second album for Goner, 2010's Melted, which the rock press drooled all over. Needless to say, Segall is an uber-prolific musician. On top of his solo career, he shares his talents with a handful of bands, including Epsilons, Sic Alps, The Traditional Fools and Party Fowl.
