While his band Battles is often tagged "post-rock" -- as much for its members' resumes as its herky-jerky sound -- Tyondai Braxton's solo debut smashes the rock and burns down the post. Combining chamber instrumentation with drums, guitars, buzzing electronics and Braxton's squirrelly, processed vocals, Central Market takes after Charles Ives in its fusion of "classical" idioms with the pop-music vernacular. But it's hardly as serious as all that. Despite some forbidding swells of noise, it's unbridled in its joy and unstoppable in its sheer dynamism.
