This could've only come out of Texas. The production is bluesy sludge-hop, filled out with forlorn riffs, bar room organs and molasses bass. The echoing "Look at Me" is Southern psychedelia, while "Wood Wheels" revels in dusty ambience. But the real draw is emcees Bun B and Pimp C. They employ the usual signifiers -- candy paint, constant pimpin' and drug slanging -- but few can flow better, and, with their short vignettes, they capture ghetto ambience like few others. Though this is not their strongest -- Ridin' Dirty holds that distinction -- this reasserts their status as kings of H-Town.
