Did you really expect UGK to change after 20-odd years and a half-dozen classic albums? With its slurry Southern soul and hard-boiled lyrics about the trill life, UGK 4 Life is instant vintage. The stomping "Still on the Grind" is a pledge of allegiance to the d-boy life, while the grooving "The Pimp and the Bun" reminds us that few hip-hop duos have better chemistry than the lovably vulgar Pimp C and sidekick/straight man Bun B. The sly "Swishas & Erb," meanwhile, is intoxicating, in every sense of the word. This is a great coda for one of hip-hop's best groups.
