You gotta have disco balls the size of church bells to even attempt the glorious, Bee-Gees-baiting schlock rock that is Under the Influence of Giants. Wailingly falsettoed, bumping over throbbing basslines and punchy drum breaks, this is funky soul music that's whiter than Darryl Hall's backside but still packs the party. Whether UTIOG are retro culture vultures ("Mama's Room"), neo-disco updaters ("Stay Illogical") or a bunch of goofballs that just wanna dance ("Heaven is Full") doesn't really matter because their swishy, flashy groove-pop is hotter than a Saturday night fever.
