Label: Solid State Records
Florida's Christian metal scene kingpins Underoath delivered this third album in 2002 -- the last to feature original singer Dallas Taylor. Including the band's first radio single, "When the Sun Sleeps," The Changing of the Times comes on like a run-of-the-mill emo record until the title cut halfway through, when the kids start to do stuff that's a little, uh, weird. The tempo shifts go sideways ("Angel Below"), and for better or worse, neon-blaring '80s-style synths begin to foreshadow the "crabcore" movement.
