...and all the pieces matter, Five Years of Music from The Wire

While the soundtrack fails to acutely capture the urban ennui so adeptly depicted in the HBO series, it does signify the various sounds snaking through the Baltimore music scene. DJ Technics' break 'n' horn-heavy "My Life Extra" is a hip-house thrill that properly reps Baltimore club music. Rappers Ogun and Diablo are too unpolished to have a national impact, but their provincial rhymes fit with the series' devout B-Town focus.
