This compilation celebrates the thriving music scene in Portland, OR, as 19 local bands cover popular songs by other artists. Proceeds from this album's sales benefit www.PearMentor.org, an organization that helps transient youths bridge the gaps in their living situations. The Dandy Warhol's sleepy cover of the Cult's "She Sells Sanctuary" is a delightfully mellow post-shoegazing affair, while the Thermals' Velvet Underground-esque version of Led Zeppelin's "Tangerine" sounds like the apex of an art-school dorm party. Viva Voce's take on Alan Parsons' "Eye in the Sky" is a standout.
