Dream Girls resembles a classic R&B review as it lovingly guides a Supremes-style soul group from the mod '60s through the stormy '70s. This high-energy approach works, even if all the show stopping numbers can be exhausting after a while. Beyonce proves she's more than just curvaceous window dressing and Eddie Murphy showcases the kind of raw talent he's been hiding under fat suits for years. This deluxe edition comes with a bonus disc that (minus a couple of remixes) is of the same high quality as the first disc. It also has a few quieter numbers that help break up all the big set pieces.
