The year 2006 was busy for both marquee names on the Eragon soundtrack -- featured vocalist Avril Lavigne got hitched and composer Patrick Doyle scored three blockbusters. Doyle's music fills the bulk of the album, giving the fantasy film orchestral fireworks akin to his recent scores for Nanny McPhee and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. His attention to low brass and strings gives the thematic material weight, and the percussion and high strings are sweepingly dramatic. But somehow, when Levigne lights it up with her single "Keep Holding On," it's no less anthemic.
