Mike Dehnert's Fachwerk label is true to the no-nonsense spirit of Berlin's techno scene, tapping a Spartan impulse that stretches from Basic Channel to Berghain. This three-artist sampler suggests that Dehnert and his colleagues Roman Lindau and Sascha Rydell are moving past brute functionalism into a bleary-eyed realm as sensual as it is heady. Lindau's "Under Pressure" recalls DBX's slinky "Losing Control"; Rydell's "When You Play It" sounds almost like the 5 a.m. house of the Smallville label. And Dehnert's "M10" stumbles down a rabbit hole of cracked rubber and disembodied soul.
