Texas has always been something of a country in itself, not just politically but musically -- nowhere do you find country, blues, Tex-Mex, rock and R&B so promiscuously jumbled. And no one personified that jumble like the late, great Doug Sahm, celebrated on the 10th anniversary of his death by a heaping helping of friends and admirers (and son Shawn). The album plods along enjoyably enough, but only a handful of songs actually shine: Los Lobos' "It Didn't Even Bring Me Down," Jimmie Vaughan's "Why, Why, Why" and Charlie Sexton's "You're Doin' It Too Hard" among them.
