Kitsune Maison Compilation 11: The IndieDance Issue
Various Artists
Released:
May 2011
Label:
Kitsuné
Paris' Kitsune label traces the seam between "indie" and "club" aesthetics, balancing guitar-centric bands (Housse de Racket, Polarsets) with dance acts like Azari & III, who turn up remixing the witchy trio Creep with the xx's Romy. Other semi-celebs include Mick Jones' son and a former member of Aeroplane, now in cahoots with Yuksek. Don't get too attached to the newcomers: Kitsune acts can have the shelf life of NME crushes. Fiction's Caribbean guitar pop shows real promise, and dirtybird's Justin Martin shines bright giving Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs a spry, blippy remix.
