Phoenix's record collections don't contain as much French house as you might have suspected. Kicking off with KISS, this unmixed collection for Kitsune proceeds to blow through a curious array of chestnuts and semi-obscurities from the Red Crayola, Elvis Costello, Tangerine Dream and even D'Angelo. (Where else are you going to find the Dirty Projectors sharing space with Ritchie Valens?) Heavy on fuzzed drums, guitar twang and a bleary psychedelic twinge, Kitsune Tabloid comes off like a cross between Wes Anderson and Easy Rider.
