The East Coast-West Coast rivalry may have ended, but California rap history is still marginalized in the hip-hop cultural narrative. The West Coast Blueprint, which mines Priority Records' underrated catalog, tries to address that. Snoop Dogg hosts a journey through prime classics such as Eazy-E's "Eazy-Duz-It," Kid Frost's "La Raza" and King Tee's "Act A Fool." However, the second half falters with unheralded cuts like Ras Kass' "The Evil That Men Do," perhaps reflecting the scene's artistic decline in the late '90s. Still, this is a necessary celebration of the West Coast sound.
