Most Disney soundtrack CDs go a little heavy on incidental music and extended scores. That's why this two-CD set highlighting the main Disney songwriting team of the 1960s and '70s is essential. These Oscar-winners remain practically unheard of, but they wrote the wonderful songs in everything from The Jungle Book and The Aristocats to Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. One of the finds here is Bobby Troup's slinky beatnik jazz crawl through "That Darn Cat." Fun fact: the cover photo of the Sherman brothers is rumored to have been the main inspiration for Kraftwerk's shellacked robot look.
