Madonna plus movies has not proven to be a successful equation (unless you consider high camp potential success. Which we do). But Madonna plus movie soundtracks is another story. "Masterpiece," her one musical contribution to her directorial debut, is no I'm Breathless or "Beautiful Stranger." In fact, with its hokey art/love metaphors, it's about as corny as the film's reworking of the Wallis Simpson/King Edward romance sounds. That said, like the rest of Abel Korzeniowski's sweeping, romantic score, "Masterpiece" is perfectly pleasant (down to some of Madge's sweetest vocals ever).
