Everything is Right

Jun 2011

Biography

In retrospect, the Velvet Monkeys were basically a revolving cast of players orbiting around producer Don Fleming. With an obvious love of noisy Punk-Pop, the Velvet Monkeys littered their songs profusely with white-trash lyrics, then reveled in it. Fleming and the Velvet Monkeys would later be touched by the avant-garde hand of Half Japanese before eventually calling it quits. Fleming then formed B.A.L.L. with Jay Spiegel and moved to New York. With a whole new set of friends, Fleming revived Velvet Monkeys, enlisting Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), and Julia Cafritz (Pussy Galore) the second time around.
