Vicki Sue Robinson was one of the women who made the '70s the '70s. A glitzy singer, she loaned her voice to songs that boomed over the heads of coked-up hipsters in designer jeans on light-splattered dancefloors. "Turn The Beat Around" is a classic from the Disco era, right up there with songs about bad girls and funky towns. As Disco went the way of the dogs, Robinson disappeared as quickly. The song, however, still does frequent turns on retro shows, '70s-themed parties and any compilation with a roller skater pictured on its cover.
