Biography
It figures that after all the sex and drugs that rock 'n' roll has taken, its memory isn't what it used to be (was it ever?). Chalk it up to long nights spent killing brain cells when a band like Vodka Collins simply fade from memory, disappearing into music's dark subconscious where bands are doomed to stay until someone digs them out. A forgotten chapter in the earliest section of the pre-Pre-Punk Guide Book, the Collins released Tokyo New York in 1973. It was a lovely piece of fuzzy rock that skidded through Glam on two wheels, looked into the not-so-distant-future and saw the New York Dolls. Their songs were covered in glitter; a dusting of distortion formed a crusty outside layer and seductive vocals pulled at the reins. They may be the band that time forgot, but Vodka Collins deserve a dusting off and a spin on the tables. Their glitzy Glam is still a shot of pure rock to the system.
