Professionally trained classical and jazz performer who was best known as an arranger on the "Tonight Show," before he hit the charts with the Disco/classical hybrid "A Fifth Of Beethoven" (included on the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever). Similar-minded takes on "Rhapsody In Blue" and "Flight Of The Bumblebee" failed to catch on.
