Released: Jan 2002
Label: World Village
This is the album that helped this anarchic Polish folk-punk-dub group scramble onto the world stage. For all its genre-bending rhetoric, it's the album's unapologetic embrace of the intensity of Polish folk -- from the famed (and harsh) "white singing" to the stark Polish fiddle -- that makes it so ground-shaking. They call it "hard'cora of obora," or "hip-hopsasa"; you might call anybody who can make obscure village folk songs hip "bad-ass."
