Jennings was a Hank Williams fanatic. According to friend and collaborator Billy Joe Shaver, on Jennings' tour bus were a couple of sawhorses with a piece of plywood laid over the top. Williams' ghost, the outlaw claimed, would sometimes sleep there. Wow. Jennings recorded these 12 covers in 1985, but they didn't see the light of day until 2006. He obviously knows Williams' material inside and out, and his band rocks, of course. An extra-special treat is "Waylon Speaks," wherein Jennings tells the story of his own childhood as well as his first encounter with the Williams classic "Lost Highway."
