Savage Life 2 (Edited)
Released: Feb 2008
Label: Asylum/Trill Entertainment
Webbie's lyrical noise-to-sound ratio is reasonable here, and the Baton Rouge emcee's trademark nonsensical lines about hood violence and strip-club eroticism are kept (somewhat) in check. Instead we get the sad-sack ballad "I Miss You" and the undeniably catchy "Independent," a paean to the modern woman that was an immense hit. Pimp C drops by for the slurry and soulful "Fly as an Eagle." Though there are no big surprises on here, Webbie's sophomore release will hold the base.
