In the early '70s, the Allman Brothers Band created a revolutionary fusion of Southern blues and Dead-inspired jamming. Then Duane Allman died and bands like the Doobie Brothers reduced his group's sound to facile bar rock, L.A.-style. When the Panic emerged from Georgia in the early '90s, they returned that music to its rightful home -- the South. Although there will only ever be one Allman Brothers Band, the Panic's third album is proof of their mission. This is true earth music.
